A <grignard reagent> in which <magnesium> is attached directly to an alkenyl <carbon>, $\mathrm{RCH{=}CHMgX}$. Addition to a <carbonyl compound> can form an allylic <alcohol> while retaining the geometry of the pre-existing <alkene>.
