Primary IFR classification document: https://ifr.org/img/worldrobotics/Sources___Methods_WR_2025_Industrial_Robots.pdf . World Robotics 2025, Sources and methods, Section 1.7.1, printed p. 28, reproduces ISO 8373:2021 definitions of robot and robot categories. A robot combines a programmed actuated mechanism with some autonomy; the narrower industrial definition includes a multipurpose manipulator and at least three programmable axes. Used as a dated definition/classification source, not a claim about current market totals.
