Zirconia stabilized by addition of yttria. At suitable elevated <temperatures>, <oxygen> vacancies allow oxide-ion transport, making the material useful in an <oxygen concentration cell>. Its oxide-ion transference number must remain sufficiently close to one for a simple ionic <Nernst equation> interpretation.
