Alfred Clebsch (1833–1872) was a German mathematician known for his contributions to several areas of mathematics, particularly in algebraic geometry, differential equations, and the theory of functions. He is perhaps best recognized for the Clebsch representation in algebraic geometry, which involves the study of surfaces and their properties. Clebsch made significant contributions to the development of the theory of elliptic functions and was involved in the study of the theory of complex variables.
