In 1944, a significant milestone in the history of computing occurred with the completion of the Electronic Numerical Integrator and Computer (ENIAC). Developed by John W. Mauchly and J. Presper Eckert at the University of Pennsylvania, the ENIAC is often considered one of the first general-purpose electronic digital computers. ENIAC was designed to perform a wide range of calculations, originally intended for artillery trajectory calculations for the U.S. Army during World War II.
