"The Matriarch of the Blues" is a term often used to refer to legendary blues singer and musician B.B. King, but it is more prominently associated with the late blues artist and cultural figure, Koko Taylor. Koko Taylor (1928–2009) was known for her powerful voice and energetic performances, and she played a significant role in shaping the Chicago blues genre.
