Alpha Centauri Bb is an exoplanet that orbits the star Alpha Centauri B, one of the three stars in the Alpha Centauri star system, which is located approximately 4.37 light-years away from Earth. It is notable for being one of the closest known exoplanets to our solar system. Discovered in 2012, Alpha Centauri Bb is classified as a "super-Earth," a type of planet that is larger than Earth but smaller than Neptune.
