Roger Needham (1935–2019) was a prominent British computer scientist known for his contributions to computer security and distributed systems. He played a significant role in the development of computer science in the United Kingdom and was one of the founders of the Cambridge Computer Laboratory. Needham was particularly well-known for his work on cryptography and the design of secure systems. He also made notable contributions through his research on authentication protocols and the concept of secure channels in computing.
