The
benthic boundary layer
(BBL) is
a
specific
region of the
ocean
or other bodies of
water
that exists at the interface between the
seabed
(or bottom sediments) and the overlying
water
column. It can be
thought
of
as
the thin layer of
water
that is in direct
contact
with the seafloor.
