Hwanung is a figure in Korean mythology, often regarded as a deity associated with the founding of the Korean state. He is considered the son of Hwanin, the "Lord of Heaven." According to traditional legends, Hwanung descended from the heavens to Earth and established a sacred government on Mount Taebaek.
