Solomon W. Golomb was a prominent American mathematician and engineer, known primarily for his contributions to fields such as combinatorial game theory, number theory, and coding theory. He is especially famous for his work involving Golomb sequences and Golomb rulers. Golomb sequences are specific integer sequences with the property that each number in the sequence is the sum of two (not necessarily distinct) earlier numbers, with the goal of minimizing duplicates.
