Thomas Joannes Stieltjes (1856–1893) was a Dutch mathematician known for his contributions to mathematical analysis and, in particular, for work related to measure theory, integration, and continued fractions. Stieltjes is perhaps best known for the Stieltjes integral, which generalizes the Riemann integral and incorporates integration with respect to a function of bounded variation.
