Zdzisław Pawlak (1924–2018) was a prominent Polish scientist and mathematician best known for his work in the fields of computer science, particularly in the areas of rough set theory and knowledge representation. He introduced the concept of rough sets in the early 1980s, which is a mathematical framework for dealing with uncertainty and vagueness in data.
