"Command and Control" is a book by Eric Schlosser that delves into the history and management of nuclear weapons in the United States. Published in 2013, the book explores the complexities and dangers associated with nuclear arsenals, focusing particularly on the accidents, near-misses, and incidents that have occurred over the decades.
Code scaling refers to the capability of a computational model or algorithm to efficiently handle increasing sizes of input data or complexities of the problem it is addressing. It is particularly relevant in fields such as computer science, engineering, and data analysis, where problems can vary significantly in size and intricacy. ### Applicability of Code Scaling 1. **Software Development**: In software engineering, scalability ensures that applications can handle increased loads without performance degradation.
Cerro Impacto is a geological feature located in the Andes mountain range of South America, specifically situated in Peru. It is notable for being a large impact crater formed by the collision of a meteorite with Earth. This impact has significant geological importance as it provides insights into the history of meteorite impacts on Earth and their effects on the planet's surface and environment.
"Canada's Deadly Secret" often refers to the serious issue of domestic violence and femicide in the country. While Canada is generally known for its high standard of living and progressive values, it does face significant challenges regarding women's safety and violence against women. Statistics indicate that a disproportionate number of women in Canada experience violence, with Indigenous women being particularly vulnerable.
Californium (Cf) is a radioactive element that is often used in neutron sources, particularly in the context of nuclear reactors and various neutron-based applications. The term "neutron flux multiplier" in relation to californium refers to its capacity to increase the neutron flux in a given environment.
"Nuclear weapon stubs" typically refer to a specific type of article or entry that is considered only a brief or incomplete overview of a topic related to nuclear weapons on platforms like Wikipedia. In this context, "stubs" are short articles that may lack detailed information, references, or comprehensive coverage of the subject matter. They often serve as a placeholder for more expansive content that can be developed by contributors later.
"Nuclear power stubs" isn't a widely recognized term in the fields of nuclear engineering or energy policy. However, it could refer to a couple of things depending on the context: 1. **Stubs in Literature or Articles**: In online encyclopedias or databases, a "stub" is often a short article or entry that provides limited information on a topic.
"Nuclear medicine stubs" generally refer to small pieces of material or samples used in nuclear medicine procedures, typically involving radiopharmaceuticals. These stubs could be related to various applications, such as: 1. **Calibration Sources**: Small radioactive sources used to calibrate radiation detection equipment in nuclear medicine to ensure accurate measurements during imaging or dosing procedures.
Nuclear technology encompasses a range of industries, including nuclear power generation, fuel production, waste management, and medical applications. Below is a list of some notable nuclear technology companies by country. Please note this is not an exhaustive list and focuses primarily on key players in the nuclear energy sector. ### United States - **General Electric (GE)** - Involved in nuclear power plant design and construction. - **Westinghouse Electric Company** - Specializes in nuclear power technology and services.
The Turkish Energy, Nuclear and Mineral Research Agency (TENMAK) is a governmental institution under the Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources. It was established to conduct research and development activities in the fields of energy, nuclear technologies, and mineral resources. Its primary objectives include: 1. **Energy Research**: TENMAK conducts research to support the development of energy resources, improve energy efficiency, and promote renewable energy technologies.
The Sarayköy Nuclear Research and Training Center (SNRTC) is a facility in Turkey dedicated to nuclear research, training, and education in the field of nuclear science and technology. Located in Sarayköy, near the city of Çankaya in the Ankara Province, the center plays a significant role in Turkey’s efforts to develop its nuclear capabilities, foster research in nuclear engineering, and provide training for professionals in the nuclear sector.
The ITU TRIGA Mark-II (Training, Research, and Isotopes General Atomics) Training and Research Reactor is a type of research reactor used primarily for educational and training purposes, as well as for various applications in nuclear research. Located at the Istanbul Technical University (ITU) in Turkey, this reactor is designed to support academic and scientific research in nuclear engineering and related fields.
ANAEM typically stands for "American National Association for the Education of Minority," but it may also refer to various other organizations or acronyms depending on the context.
The West Valley Demonstration Project (WVDP) is a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) project located in West Valley, New York. It was established in the 1980s to clean up and manage the radioactive waste from the defunct West Valley Nuclear Facility, which operated from 1966 to 1972 and processed spent nuclear fuel and high-level waste.
The Stored Waste Examination Pilot Plant (SWEPP) is an initiative associated with the management and examination of stored radioactive waste, particularly the waste resulting from the operations of nuclear facilities. While specific details can vary based on the context and location, SWEPP typically involves the examination, characterization, and assessment of stored waste materials to understand their composition, condition, and potential risks. This helps in making informed decisions about their long-term management, treatment, and disposal.
Sequoyah Fuels Corporation (SFC) was a company involved in the processing of uranium and other nuclear materials. Established in the early 1970s, it operated a plant in Gore, Oklahoma, which was primarily focused on the conversion of uranium to fuel for nuclear reactors. The facility produced uranium hexafluoride (UF6), which is a key material used in the enrichment process for nuclear fuel.

Pinned article: Introduction to the OurBigBook Project

Welcome to the OurBigBook Project! Our goal is to create the perfect publishing platform for STEM subjects, and get university-level students to write the best free STEM tutorials ever.
Everyone is welcome to create an account and play with the site: ourbigbook.com/go/register. We belive that students themselves can write amazing tutorials, but teachers are welcome too. You can write about anything you want, it doesn't have to be STEM or even educational. Silly test content is very welcome and you won't be penalized in any way. Just keep it legal!
We have two killer features:
  1. topics: topics group articles by different users with the same title, e.g. here is the topic for the "Fundamental Theorem of Calculus" ourbigbook.com/go/topic/fundamental-theorem-of-calculus
Articles of different users are sorted by upvote within each article page. This feature is a bit like:
    • a Wikipedia where each user can have their own version of each article
    • a Q&A website like Stack Overflow, where multiple people can give their views on a given topic, and the best ones are sorted by upvote. Except you don't need to wait for someone to ask first, and any topic goes, no matter how narrow or broad
This feature makes it possible for readers to find better explanations of any topic created by other writers. And it allows writers to create an explanation in a place that readers might actually find it.

  2. local editing: you can store all your personal knowledge base content locally in a plaintext markup format that can be edited locally and published either:
This way you can be sure that even if OurBigBook.com were to go down one day (which we have no plans to do as it is quite cheap to host!), your content will still be perfectly readable as a static site.
