 Carboxylic anhydride

A compound with the grouping $\mathrm{R}-\mathrm{C}(=\mathrm{O})-\mathrm{O}-\mathrm{C}(=\mathrm{O})-R\prime$. A carboxylate-derived leaving group can be expelled during nucleophilic acyl substitution.
