 Cosmological monopole problem

The cosmological monopole problem is the excessive relic density of stable magnetic monopoles produced in some early-universe symmetry-breaking scenarios. Cosmic inflation dilutes their number density as $a^{-3}$. Successful later reheating must also avoid recreating an excessive abundance.
