 Deformation retraction

A deformation retraction of $X$ onto $A$ is a homotopy from ${\mathrm{id}}_X$ to a retraction $r:X\to A$ that keeps $A$ inside itself throughout. It makes the inclusion $A\hookrightarrow X$ a homotopy equivalence.
