 Eddy viscosity

An eddy viscosity parametrizes turbulent momentum transport by $\overline{u^{\prime }{v}^{\prime }}=-{\nu }_T{U}_y$. The mixing length model gives ${\nu }_T=l^2|U_y|\ge 0$. This coefficient depends on the mean flow and position; it is distinct from molecular kinematic viscosity. It describes momentum transport rather than molecular energy dissipation.
