Exceptional curve of a surface resolution
ID: exceptional-curve-of-a-surface-resolution
An exceptional curve of a surface resolution is an irreducible curve on the smooth resolving surface that maps to a point on the original normal surface. For an affine toric surface resolved by fan subdivision, the interior inserted rays give these proper curves. Each has a complete one-dimensional star and is isomorphic to the projective line.
