 Existence theorem of local class field theory

The finite-index open subgroups of $K^{\times }$ are exactly the norm subgroups $N_{L/K}(L^{\times })$ for finite abelian extensions $L/K$. The subgroup determines $L$ uniquely inside $K^{\mathrm{ab}}$.
