 Faraday's comparison of common and voltaic electricity

In 1833 Michael Faraday compared electrical effects from different sources and then their quantitative delivery. His galvanometer test discharged a machine-charged jar battery through a wet thread and the detector, connecting frictionally produced charge to magnetic action.^[ref]
