 Force balance

Force balance equates the rate of change of momentum to the sum of applied forces. A static continuum segment with internal resultant $\mathbf{F}(s)$ and force density $\mathbf{f}(s)$ obeys ${\partial }_s\mathbf{F}+\mathbf{f}=0$.
