Dynamic atomic force microscopy using the resonance-frequency change of an oscillating cantilever as the interaction-sensitive signal. Small-amplitude oscillations and weak force gradients give the small-amplitude AFM frequency shift; larger amplitudes require an averaged interaction analysis.
