 G. R. Burbidge

G. R. Burbidge co-developed the 1957 account of stellar nucleosynthesis with E. Margaret Burbidge, William Alfred Fowler and Fred Hoyle. The work distinguished slow neutron-capture processes from rapid neutron-capture processes by comparing neutron capture and radioactive-decay timescales.^[ref]

That ordering matters because a nucleus can either capture another neutron or decay first, producing different paths through the nuclides and different final abundance patterns.
