Lunar material enriched in potassium, rare-earth elements and phosphorus, together with other incompatible elements. It is associated with evolved residual liquids from lunar differentiation; accompanying uranium and thorium provide radiogenic heating. KREEP is a geochemical designation, not itself a synonym for all mare basalt or for a unique physical crustal layer.
