Littlewood–Richardson rule
ID: littlewood-richardson-rule
For induction of to the symmetric group on letters, the Specht filtration multiplicity of is the number of Semistandard Young tableaux of skew shape , content , and lattice word read from right to left in each row, taking rows from top to bottom. In characteristic zero these are irreducible constituents; in positive characteristic they remain Specht factors rather than simple constituents. Content gives the add-one-cell induction rule.
The Littlewood–Richardson rule is a combinatorial rule used in the representation theory of symmetric groups and in the theory of Schur functions, which are important topics in algebraic combinatorics and mathematical physics.
