Margaret Grant (linguist)
ID: margaret-grant-linguist
Margaret Grant studies sentence comprehension through experimental investigations of interpretation and ambiguity. Her Simon Fraser University profile identifies a 2013 dissertation on the interpretation of comparative constructions, and research connecting psycholinguistics with linguistic theory.[ref]
The central distinction is between a grammatical description of a sentence and the process by which a listener or reader arrives at an interpretation. Experimental evidence can constrain an account of that process without assuming that every theoretically possible analysis is used equally in real time. She is a coauthor of Essentials of Linguistics (2nd edition) by Catherine Anderson and others.
