 Partial-wave unitarity

Partial-wave unitarity bounds each angular-momentum component of a scattering amplitude because its elastic S-matrix eigenvalue has modulus one. Perturbative violation of this bound signals that interactions become strong or that additional degrees of freedom must enter.
