 Proposal distribution

At the current state $x$, a Metropolis–Hastings algorithm draws a candidate state $y$ from its proposal distribution $q(\cdot \mid x)$. The Metropolis–Hastings acceptance probability corrects the proposal's bias so that the target distribution remains invariant.
