An orthonormal subsystem basis appearing in a Schmidt decomposition. Its vectors diagonalize the corresponding reduced density matrix. Degenerate Schmidt coefficients permit a freedom to rotate the paired bases together; zero-weight basis vectors complete the subsystem space without contributing to the state.
