 Transmission Control Protocol

Transmission Control Protocol provides a reliable ordered byte-stream service between its endpoints, using sequencing, acknowledgements and retransmission. Receipt by that transport does not establish that a receiving application has durably stored the data or completed a user operation.^[ref]
