 Transverse electric polarization

Relative to a propagation plane, transverse electric polarization has its electric field perpendicular to that plane. For a conducting corrugation independent of the perpendicular coordinate, the scalar electric component obeys the Helmholtz equation with Dirichlet data at the metal surface.
