A triangular probability density function rises linearly from zero at $a$ to its mode $c$, then falls linearly to zero at $b$. Its peak is $2/(b-a)$. Its inverse transform sampling rule is $a+\sqrt{u(b-a)(c-a)}$ for $u\le (c-a)/(b-a)$, and $b-\sqrt{(1-u)(b-a)(b-c)}$ otherwise.
