 Weak-star topology

The weak-star topology $\sigma (X^{\ast },X)$ is pointwise convergence of functionals on $X$. If $X$ is nonreflexive, it is strictly weaker than the weak topology $\sigma (X^{\ast },X^{\ast \ast })$ on $X^{\ast }$.
