Étienne-Louis Malus (1775-1812) was a French engineer and physicist, best known for his work in the field of optics. He is particularly famous for his discoveries related to the polarization of light. Malus is credited with the discovery of what is now known as Malus's law, which describes how the intensity of polarized light changes when it passes through a polarizing filter.
