With the Church Booleans T=λab.a and F=λab.b, encode a pair by
Pair=λabp.pab,Fst=λp.pT,Snd=λp.pF.
(1)
Then Fst(PairAB)→β∗A and the second projection similarly returns B. Pairing an iteration counter with a computed value implements primitive recursion using only Church numeral iteration.
