Coriolis bank angle for eastward flight (source code)

= Coriolis bank angle for eastward flight
{c}
{title2=$\tan\theta=2\Omega v\sin\lambda/g$}

For a locally eastward aircraft <velocity> at northern latitude $\lambda$, the horizontal <Coriolis acceleration> is southward with magnitude $2\Omega v\sin\lambda$. Banking to direct part of the lift northward cancels this <acceleration>. If vertical lift balances weight, the <force> ratio gives the displayed angle. Including vertical <Coriolis acceleration> replaces $g$ by $g-2\Omega v\cos\lambda$. This is a local rotational correction, not a full navigation model of motion along a curved latitude circle.
