Correlator

A device or algorithm that estimates the <cross-correlation> of input signals, often by multiplying one signal by a delayed or complex-conjugated copy of another and averaging. In <radio interferometry>, calibrated complex correlations supply <complex visibilities>. Delay tracking, channel width and integration duration determine which field information survives that averaging.
