For a barotropic fluid, the squared sound speed is $c_s^2=\partial P/\partial\rho$. A Fourier density mode obeys
$$
\ddot\delta+2H\dot\delta
+\left(\frac{c_s^2k^2}{a^2}-4\pi G\bar\rho\right)\delta=0
$$
in linear Newtonian perturbation theory.
