The <cytosol> is the aqueous part of the <cytoplasm> surrounding its structures, including <organelles>. It contains <water>, <ions> and dissolved <molecules>, including many <proteins>; it is a crowded working environment rather than pure <water>. The liquid inside a <cell nucleus> or a membrane-bounded <organelle> is not the surrounding <cytosol>.
