Deceptive signalling

Signalling that exploits a receiver response in circumstances where that response does not provide its normally associated benefit, while benefiting the signaller. Conscious intent is not required by the evolutionary definition.

Mimicry by an exploiter that attracts or otherwise misdirects a potential victim, for example by resembling a resource or reproductive opportunity.
