Detector Development Group Staff at Jefferson Lab. Drew Weisenberger entry: scintillation and solid-state detector design and applications
In his presentation on detector technology, a scintillator converts deposited gamma ray energy into optical light, and a photomultiplier turns that light into an electrical signal. Combining position-sensitive detection with compact detector modules enables specialized gamma cameras rather than requiring every imaging task to use the same instrument.[ref]Bio-medical Applications of Jefferson Lab's Nuclear Physics Detector Technology by Drew Weisenberger.
