Diabatic heating
= Diabatic heating
{title2=$\dot Q$}
Heat addition changes parcel entropy and departs from an <adiabatic process>. In an atmosphere, radiation, latent heating and turbulent heat transfer are examples. Spatially varying dust absorption can supply a thermal forcing for atmospheric waves; the heating distribution must project onto the wave's spatial structure to excite it efficiently.
