An experimental particle physicist who coauthors the Particle Data Group review of particle passage through matter with Donald E. Groom. It relates energy loss, multiple scattering and radiation processes to the signals and limitations of particle detectors. The same relations let an experimenter estimate whether a charged track will be detectable, stopped or significantly deflected.^[ref]
