Let f0(t) be the initial instantaneous forward rate curve and choose r0=f0(0). In the Hull-White model, take β(t)=f0′(t)+af0(t)+η2(1−e−2at)/(2a). To verify the fit, write rt=xt+ϕ(t) with dxt=−axtdt+ηdWtQ, x0=0, and ϕ(t)=f0(t)+η2(1−e−at)2/(2a2). The Gaussian exponential formula gives −∂TlogP(0,T)=ϕ(T)−η2(1−e−aT)2/(2a2)=f0(T).
