For b=1, subtract the equilibrium u∗=a/(1−b) to get uk+1−u∗=b(uk−u∗). Hence uk=u∗+bk(u0−u∗). For b=1, the solution is uk=u0+ka. The exceptional factor 00 in a formula with b=0,k=0 is avoided by retaining the given initial value.
