= Functional complementation
<Functional complementation> is restoration of a specified function or <phenotype> by introducing a <gene> into a deficient recipient. In the <yeast cross-species complementation experiment>, the restored property is growth without supplied <methionine>, under the assay conditions. Rescue need not restore every property of the original <genotype>.
