= Gravitational potential energy
{synonym}
The potential energy associated with gravitational interactions. For a self-gravitating spherical body with a fixed dimensionless density profile, $E_{\rm grav}=-C GM^2/R$ for a positive profile-dependent constant $C$; a uniform sphere has $C=3/5$. The $R^{-1}$ scaling competes with the same radius dependence of ultrarelativistic <electron degeneracy pressure> in a white dwarf, giving the <Chandrasekhar mass> scale.
