The potential energy associated with gravitational interactions. For a self-gravitating spherical body with a fixed dimensionless density profile, Egrav=−CGM2/R for a positive profile-dependent constant C; a uniform sphere has C=3/5. The R−1 scaling competes with the same radius dependence of ultrarelativistic electron degeneracy pressure in a white dwarf, giving the Chandrasekhar mass scale.
