Grounding
= Grounding
Connecting a <conductor> to a large reference reservoir fixes its <electric potential>, conventionally at zero, while allowing <electric charge> to enter or leave. Grounding does not fix the conductor's net <electric charge>. In <electrostatics>, its surface is then a prescribed-potential boundary for <Poisson's equation>.
